Our Story

1961

DEMS was founded in 1961 by Robert (Bob) Eldridge. DEMS started trading out of a small office situated in Winder Street (Central Durban). Shortly after this we moved the business to Roadknight Avenue off Stamfordhill Road Durban.

2000

Once we had outgrown the Roadknight premises, we moved to a larger premises in Springfield Park. This Industrial Park was considered to be a more appropriate facility for DEMS to operate from and develop the business.

2002

DEMS acquired a small Rubber business that was a supplier and manufacturer of rubber moulded products for DEMS. This was a good start and fit for DEMS, enabling us to become more of a manufacturer and not just a supplier. Over the years our Rubber Division has grown steadily and we have become one of South Africa's leading Rubber Manufactures in the Country.

2006

After only 4 years in the Rubber manufacturing sector DEMS embarked on a massive factory and equipment purpose built expansion upgrade in our Springfield Park premises.

2010

DEMS Johannesburg expanded and opens up a branch in Dekema road, Dekema Park, Wadeville, Johannesburg.

2015

Due to the success and the growth of the DEMS Johannesburg Branch, DEMS moved the operation to a larger premises at Osborn Park. We have continued on our growth path and developed these premises to meet our requirements and needs.

2018

DEMS acquires Gartech, an established engineering plastic company which is a well-known Cape Town business in the engineering plastic sector. Gartech was founded by Bob Garrett in 1989. Our Cape Town operation trades as DEMS Gartech.

2021

DEMS acquires E.G.A., an established engineering plastic company in Johannesburg which is a well known manufacturer of polyurethane and engineering plastic components. E.G.A. was founded by Gordon Almond in 1989. Our Johannesburg operation trades as Dems E.G.A.
